Thank you, Roberto. I will always remember Kanantik as the best of the best in Belize (and I'm still here...)

"Flying into Kanantik's private
airstrip between Dangriga and Placencia, with the resort's 300
acres of untamed jungle sprawling behind its palm-studded beach
and the big blue stretching beyond, you know you're in for a
sweet experience."
Outside Traveler, special edition winter 2006
"The eco-sensitive, all-inclusive retreat is arguably the country's
most beautiful and luxurious...with to-die-for Creole-Mediterranean
cuisine (pasta that's made on the premises, freshly whipped up
gelato and firewood Italian pizza oven) and amazing ocean views,
it almost become easy to forget about Kanantik's other offering."
Kenya Hunt, Reason to Belize, Metro, May 2005
"Kanantik is a thoroughly upscale resort in every respect -
superb lodging, gourmet food, excellent service - and is priced
a such."
Tatnall Starr, The Angling Report, May 2005
"Dear Mr. Fabbri
Our visit here was wonderful. You have built a wonderful, beautiful
place and I shall write about it with enthusiasm.
Your staff in particular is amazing. You are lucky to have so many
people devoted to this place and you. Many, many thanks, see you
soon."
Dan Rattiner, Dan's Papers, January 2005
"Our stay at Kanantik was by far the best vacation we have
ever taken. We arrived on Sunday, pale-skinned and tired from
our crazy lives in New York City. After 6 glorious days at Kanantik,
we departed relaxed, well-rested, and tanned (and very, very
sad to leave). On the plane ride home, we kept saying, "if we
were still at Kanantik right now, we'd be eating or sitting by
the pool or having drinks at the bar."
The resort is spectacular, and the preservation of nature
within the grounds is a sight to be seen. The cabana was beautiful
and comfortable. We especially appreciated all of the Belizean
handiwork that went into the cabana's construction and the
furniture. We miss waking up to the birds chirping and sound
of the waves crashing on the beach.
The staff was incredibly warm, friendly and knowledgeable.
Their willingness to share their experiences in Belize taught
us about a special place in the world, and now in our hearts.
We have already recommended Kanantik to some friends and
will continue to do so with extreme pleasure. We will be hard-pressed
to find another place in the world that will compare to Kanantik
and can't wait to visit again."

"Darrin Dingman, a 36 year old small-business owner, describes his week at
Belize's Kanantik Reef & Jungle Resort, an all-inclusive eco-sensitive resort
built on a 1,300-foot private beach in southern Belize, as "Gilligan's Island
meets the Ritz. This place was literrally carved from the surrounding jungle.
Absolutely amazing, beautiful stuff," Mr. Dingman says, "I don't think the resort
is for everyone, but I would go back tomorrow.""

"Kananik is not for everyone - it offers nothing in the way of shopping, nightclubs
or spas. And the beach is only modest by Caribbean standard. But for those interested
in a full-frontal encounter with Belize's jungle and its reef, Kanantik is a
natural choice."
David Swanson, Caribbean travel & Life, February 2004
"..it seemed only natural that in creating a refuge in Belize - the heart
of Mayan country - Fabbri [owner] would turn to [the] ancient rulers for inspiration.
Kanantik's conical, thatched cabanas have a primeval look, clustered close against
the deep blue tropical night."
"After long days spent in or by the Caribbean, guests retire
to the steep-roofed, one-room structures, the sound of surf thrumming
through the open-air windows, each picturesquely crisscrossed with
local branches to prevent neon-colored tropical birds-so bright
they look gaudy-from stopping in."
"Part of the joy or running Kanantik, Fabbri reports, is watching
the guests transform. "Clients at first wear sandals; then they
go barefoot." He himself is a case in point. Although he began
wearing ties at the age of six, attending the opera with his
parents in Rome, he now goes to work shoeless and hasn't worn
a suit...for the past seven years. "You really learn a quick
kind of freedom here," he says. To the envy of his guests, who
have to leave the resort when their vacations end, it's one he
may never be obliged to forget."
Penelope Rowlands, Architectural Digest, November 2003.
"Kanantik is a compound of 25 Mayan huts that are the last
work in rustic chic: thatched roofs, plank floors, handcrafted
log furniture....The rest of the land (300 acres) has been left
wild. Kanantik means 'to take care of' in Maya, and that's what
we want to do for our guests." http://www.travelandleisure.com/invoke.cfm?objectid=5919B280-56C5-4DFB-A0C8AE28774B8D67

"With many activities being offered throughout the day I decided
to remain at the resort and experience Kanantik's well deserved
service as Kanantik is Mayan for "to take care of". The staff
definitely treated me like a queen. While stirring my Pina Colada,
I had an opportunity to read my last chapter of my novel while
relaxing on a comfy lounge chair overlooking the Caribbean ocean.
This felt like a dream. Everything was perfect as I just experienced
paradise at its best!" http://www.travelworldmagazine.com/destinations/detail.php?CategoryID=47&ArticleID=318 "

"I am the only person on the 1,300-foot beach that fronts
the Kanantik Reef and Jungle resorts in Southern Belize? It seems
like yesterday that I boarded the Belize-bound plane at DFW Airport-when
in reality I had taken off earlier the same day. Amazingly, the
trip from my front door in Dallas to paradise in Central America
had taken less time than it would have taken to hit the second
floor of the Crate and Barrel store on Michigan Avenue in Chicago.
The Transition is startling. Just a few miles offshore lies the
second-largest barrier reef in the world, with more than 400
species of fish, 70 varieties of coral, gigantic multicolored
sponges, and the world-renowned Blue Hole, a spectacular circular
formation 1,000 feet in diameter and 400 feet deep. Just a few
miles inland, howler moneys shriek from their perch high in the
trees of the rainforest. Jaguars roam the jungles, and the scratchy
calls of keel-billed toucans echo from the forest."
D Magazine- Dallas, Texas- March 2003, by Nancy Nichol
"Kanantik is the Maya Mopan word "to take care"-and
the proprietors take care of not only their guests, but also
the land. Vegetation located where the 25 thatched-roof cabanas
now sit was relocated, trimmed, or used to build the cabanas
and their organic furniture. You find a note in your room reminding
you that wildlife in the area is plentiful thanks to these efforts,
which is why a few friendly callers might visit your cabana during
the night (think harmless giant grasshoppers and adorable chirping
geckos)."
"Kanantik Reef and Jungle and Jungle Resort, Stann Creek
District-The five years it took to build this resort have definitely
paid off. Kanantik is gorgeous. Almost everything in the resort
comes from the jungle and surrounding area: rich sofa fabric
from Guatemala, stone wall art carved by local artists, furniture
made from trees that once stood on the shore. Now that's recycling.
The resort also composts and uses low-flow water systems. Meals,
local rums and beer, and daily tours are included."

"Kanantik Reef & Jungle Resort (Belize)
"Kanantik offers the Caribbean vacation you didn't expect, where tracking
elusive jaguars, kayaking with manatees, and snorkeling in soaring among whale
sharks is on the agenda. The 25-room lodge is framed by serious jungle on one
side and placid beachfront on the other. Individual thatch-roof cabanas are air
conditioned and come with four-poster beds draped with mosquito netting and open-air
showers. Meals are simple-fish carpaccio and homemade pasta-and are followed
by punta dancing with the local Garifuna people ($315 all-inclusive; www.kanantik.com)."

"
Kanantik's private airstrip is seemingly in the middle of no-man's
land. From the air, the neatly groomed gravel airstrip looked out
of place, surrounded by impenetrable vegetation. The pilot radioed
our arrival and motioned for me to prepare to disembark. After landing,
and without a soul in sight to greet me, the pilot handed me my bag
and prepared to leave. Poking her head out the door of the plane
and looking concerned, the lady from Texas and said ĪDarlin', you
all aren't getting off here all by ya'self, I hope. Is someone coming
to meet you all?"
As in response to her question a shiny new Kanantik resort Mercedes-Benz
van emerged from the thick jungle. Two guides in crisply starched
safari suits stepped out to greet me.
"Welcome to Kanantik, Mrs. Barone," they said as
the Cessna roared off. In the Maya Mopan Language, Kanantik means "to
take care." So, its only natural, I suppose, that you expect
to be well looked after at a resort with that moniker."
