Kanantik’s close proximity to the many adventures of the jungle makes it the perfect base to explore one of nature’s wild places. For it is our location that makes Kanantik so special. Choose for a wide variety of optional tours and excursions (many of which are included in our special Packages).
Bird Watching
Our experienced, friendly, local native guide will take you to the nearby jungle, on our property, where you can see and hear many different species of birdlife. This sunrise tour also allows you to witness much of the flora and fauna in our area, as we are well-known for a rich collection of plants and wildlife. You can also visit our two impressive Observation Towers, from which you can enjoy a panoramic view of the nearby Mayan Mountains. Our nearby lagoon allows guests to see local crocodiles in the natural environment.
River Canoeing
Sure to be a highlight of your stay with us! Hop into our rugged Mercedes Unimog as we drive through the nearby Savanna to Cabbage Haul Creek. From your canoe, you will witness the richness of this wildlife area. Scan the shoreline in search of manatees, iguanas, crocodiles, and other native wildlife. Listen as the birds entertain you with their melodious songs. Paddle the serene creek as it reaches the adjacent Sapodillo Lagoon. A true jungle experience.
Cockscomb Basin Jaguar Preserve
This very popular jungle tour delivers you to the headquarters of the Cockscomb Basin, a very impressive 150,000 acre National Park, dedicated to the preservation of the native Jaguar. Our experienced, local guides will take you on several different trails where you may witness for yourself the incredible diversity of wildlife, birdlife, and local flora. While they are masters of hiding in the jungle, jaguars live in this area, so keep your eyes open. Be sure to look out for other native wildlife – you will surely hear our friendly howler monkeys before you see them! We also allow time to visit the native Mayan Craft Shop at the Maya Center Village near the park entrance.
Xunantunich Mayan Ruin

This all-day tour delivers you to anothe world and another time. The very scenic 2.5 hour dirve passes through the Hummingbird Highway, past the Citrus Valley, the lush forest at the foot of the Mayan Mountains, and the capital of Belize, Belmopan. Enjoy the amazing views and sights from the comfort of our air-conditioned Mercedes Benz van. As we approach the border with Guatamala, you will board a small, manually-operated ferry, which takes you across the Mopan River. It is here that you will find the magnificent and majestic Mayan Ruins of Xunantunich (the Maiden Rock). Surrounded by more than 25 temples and palaces, Xunantunich is historical ceremonial center, located on a natural limestone ridge, rising 125 feet. From the top of Xunantunich, you will enjoy panoramic vistas of the Cayo district. Lunch is included in this tour, and you will enjoy a traditional Belizean meal at Clarissa Fall, at a small Resort overlooking the Mopan River. For anyone interested in ancient cultures and history, the Xunantunich Mayan Ruin trip is definitely a must-see.
